2021: My year of BEING, not doing

I don’t know about you but I am pretty damn good at doing. Am sure you are too, right?

Doing the daily stuff - meetings, chores, parenting and sometimes the big stuff - the marathon, the Ironman, the adventure holidays.

So the only resolution I am making this year is focused on being. As Richard Branson, the ultimate action man said:  Take the focus off doing, and start being every day. Be loving, be grateful, be helpful, and be a spectator to your own thoughts.”

As the wheels fell off 2020 I reverted to my usual modus operandi - plan and action my way out: have the timetable for the homeschooling, build the website during lockdown, put the spin bike into the spare room. Come Lockdown Two (the phases by which we marked our year)  I had learned my lesson and my sole objective in that one was to enjoy our family time together and have more fun.  I quickly realised though that to have more fun I had to be more fun myself because fun is not something you can buy at KMart (although lord knows we all tried that at Christmas!).

The focus of my Co Active coaching practice centres around not just what you want to do to make the most of a vast array of opportunities around all of us but also who you want to be every day when you show up to this great game show called “life”.

So as cliche as it sounds that is the only resolution I am carrying into 2021 - to be fun. Fun when I am working, fun as a parent and not just fun when I am out on the town with my mates (because let’s face it - there may still be some challenges on that front next year!)
So what do you want to BE as we navigate another year? Calm? Positive? Focused? Whatever it is 1) name it and 2) hold yourself accountable to it every day.

Wishing you lots of luck, a splash of bubbles and a sprinkle of unadulterated Netflix as we bid farewell to 2020!

PS Remember if you or anyone would like to try a sample coaching session in 2021 then just go to my calendar below and book yourselves in. Members of this group have done that and had a really useful coaching session totally free and no obligations at all :)
